A Personal Care Home (PCH) can provide housing, food service, and personal services including assistance with or supervision of self-administered medication, assistance with ambulation and transfer, and essential activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. An Assisted Living Community (ALC) can offer these additional personal services: administering medications by a certified medication aide and providing assisted self-preservation – which means that a resident can be evacuated during an emergency within an established period of time as determined by the Office of Fire Safety Commissioner. Also, ALCs have 25 or more residents.
